BRIDAL PRODUCTION INTERN

Role summary

We are a bridal design studio seeking a skilled sewing intern to support the construction and finishing of bespoke bridal and occasion wear garments. This is a hands-on role within the production process, assisting with dress assembly, precision sewing, and high-quality finishing under the direction of the lead designer.

This role is ideal for someone who wants real experience working on structured, delicate, and detail-focused garments in a bridal environment.

Key responsibilities:


Garment construction support

• Sew dress components from pre-cut pieces

• Construct bodices, skirts, and linings under guidance

• Insert invisible zips and closures

• Sew clean, consistent seams on delicate and structured fabrics

• Follow construction instructions and studio methods accurately

Bridal finishing work:

• Hand sew linings, hems, and internal finishes

• Attach appliqué, lace, and embellishment neatly

• Understitch, topstitch, and finish edges to a high standard

• Ensure garments are clean, pressed, and professionally presented inside & out


Alterations & Fit adjustments (as skills allow)

• Take in or let out seams

• Adjust straps and bust seams

• Shorten hems

• Support during fittings by pinning and marking alterations


Fabric & Materials handling

• Work with delicate fabrics such as lace, tulle, chiffon, crepe, and satin

• Handle structured materials such as interfacing, boning casings, and linings

• Prepare pieces carefully to avoid damage or stretching


Studio production support

• Keep garment pieces organised and labelled

• Maintain a tidy and efficient sewing workspace

• Press garments correctly throughout construction

• Assist in preparing finished dresses for fittings or collection



Essential skills (must have)

✔ Confident using a sewing machine independently

✔ Solid understanding of garment construction basics

✔ Able to sew neat, accurate seams with consistent seam allowances

✔ Comfortable sewing lightweight and delicate fabrics

✔ Good pressing technique

✔ Able to follow technical instructions carefully


Strong advantage

➕ Experience sewing dresses or occasionwear

➕ Experience with linings and invisible zips

➕ Hand sewing skills (slip stitch, blind hem, attaching lace)

➕ Understanding of structured garments (boning channels, interfacing, corsetry elements)

➕ Fashion or costume construction training
